Ivory Cane Palm - Pinanga Coronata / Kuhlii
The Ivory Cane Palm is a very attractive, medium sized clumping palm from the Indonesian islands of Java and Sumatra.
The leaves are very attractive with a slight mottling and red highlights on the new young leaves!
This rainforest palm can grow to around 3-6 meters tall. It develops a slim, ringed green trunk with feather shaped leaves. It will produce multiple ivory canes but remains in a nice clump.
Pinanga coronata/kuhlii bears bright red, oval fruit which turns black once ripe.

The Ivory Cane Palm is best grown in part to full shade in a sheltered position due to its rainforest home.
It is mainly grown in the tropics, but this palm has some tolerance to cold and can withstand cold temperatures for a short amount of time. It is not fussy will soil as long as it is moist, but will not thrive in a salty environment.
Excellent indoor plant. Quite easy to grow and very rewarding!
