Sambung Nyawa - Gynura procumbens
This is a really special herb for the garden. A plant also known as a "Life extender" has got to have great properties.
This natural source of asparaginase they may help to lower levels of harmful acrylamides we can create when cooking some foods.
It grows well in our garden and suggestion of making 2-3 leaves a day "a way of life" is a good one.
Sambung is well known in South East Asia, with folklore medicinal uses in China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, and the leaves of the plant are also eaten as a vegetable. Leaves have a mild flavour, I think they taste a little like green beans, quite pleasant and not slimy like some leafy greens.
Although ok just to graze on, you can put them in a salads or basically add to any savoury type meal, chooks love them too.
