Dracaena marginata, or Red Edge Dragon Tree, grows to aprox 5m tall. It can easily be maintained at any height by pruning the tops. Wherever you prune a cane, multiple canes will re-shoot, creating a beautiful bushy plant. It is one of the very best indoor plants, and looks great in a pot. Plant them with 3 or more in a pot to develop a nice, ‘full’ looking plant. It develops Cordyline-like canes, with tufts of sword-like foliage. Foliage is green with red margins. Not only is it great indoors, it also fares very well out in the garden, in full sun to part shade. Cardboard Palm (Zamia furfuracea) Member of the Cycad family (Cycad is Greek for ‘palm’, as most Cycads bear resemblance to palms). It is native to the warm sandy coastal plains of Mexico. It’s a very distinctive cycad with thick, felty leaves up to 1.2m long that emerge from the middle of the plant, forming a rosette. When grown in bright light, the rosette becomes a 1m high clump of tightly overlapping that can (although slowly) grow to 1.8m in diameter. Heliconia Red Christmas flowers right through winter, providing a low maintenance, hardy clump, around 1m tall. Quite drought hardy for a Heliconia, but does look best with regular watering. This Heliconia grows just about anywhere, and in most soils. Best soil is a well draining, fertile, water retentive mix. Best position is full sun to part shade. Also suitable for pots!

Canna indica is a very nice tropical plant with bright green, lush foliage and flowers which are carried on tall stalks. This Canna grows to around 1m tall, with flower spikes up to 1.5m. They are beautiful in between your other foliage and flowering plants in the garden, providing bulk and colour when in flower.
A great way to purify the air in your office, house or work space! The Peace Lily is an ideal indoor plant and can be grown in darker spots in the house, as well as shady positions in the garden. The Peace Lily flower is a very simple design, the flowers are pale green at the start then change to snow white with a yellow centre. The peace lily grows best in a dark shady spot, it will not tolerate direct sun light. Keep the soil moist, can grow to 90 cms tall and an equal width. One of our favourites! A beautiful tree from the Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia) family which produces big banana-like foliage. Foliage arranges itself in a fan-shaped form. Though technically not a palm tree, it is often called one because of the short palm-like trunk & foliage. It grows 7-15m tall. The Travellers Palm produces white flowers, followed by brown fruits. Seeds are a wonderful blue colour. It derives its name ‘Travellers Palm’ from the fact that it collects and holds rainwater in its leaf folds and flower bracts. Thirsty travellers knew to seek out this tree to collect water. Ravenala madagascariensis is a stunning tropical plant and would act well as a feature plant, or as back drop for other tropical plants. It is often used to line driveways and property entries, for which the fan shape lends itself very well. Plants for sale: 50-60cm tall. These plants are best in the ground, they do not look their best in pots as they are so fast growing. These are not the most beautiful plants, but they are extremely hardy and fully ready to go into the ground and take off. Good root systems!

Saltbush is now popular as an Australian Bush food with the dried leaves offering a salty substitute! They are great to sprinkle over breads, used in meals such as pasta or even in dukkah. Taro (Colocasia esculenta) is a tropical perennial plant native to Asia and India. It is a vigorous, fast growing plants which is grown for its edible tuber. The tuber can be prepared similar to potato; boiled, baked etc. Leaves are also edible.
Taro is best grown in a warm, frost free position. In warm parts of the country it can be planted year round, but in cooler parts it's best to plant in spring. Taro can be grown in a greenhouse or even indoors of your climate is too cold to grow Taro outdoors. Taro performs best with regular watering and humidity.

Native Gardenia (Randia Fitzalanii), also known as the yellow mangosteen, is a beautiful rainforest tree, native to the North Coast of Queensland in Australia. Randia fitzalanii grows to around 5m tall, possibly a little taller in some conditions, and makes an excellent small tree for many gardens! Foliage is very beautiful and glossy green, and flowers resemble the flowers of Gardenia’s, which is where the name ‘Native Gardenia’ originates. The flowers are highly fragrant.
