Moringa olefera is also known as the horseradish or drumstick tree.  A fast-growing tree native to the southern foothills of the himalayas, its leaves have been used as part of traditional medicine for centuries, and as a food source for at least 4,000 years.  

The tree is covered with beautiful fine rounded leaves and the flowers are yellow / white and fragrant.

Ayurvedic natural medicine associates Moringa with the cure or prevention of about 300 diseases!

The Moringa leaves are packed with an incredible amount of nutrition: protein, essential amion acids, minerals, antioxidants, beta carotene, vitamin C, calcium, potassium qnd more.

It is claimed to have antiinflamatory properties and cholesterol lowering properties!

Every part of the plant is useful in some way, it even has properties that can assist in cleaning contaminated water and is an important tree in developing countries.

If you grow your own moringa tree, you can use the young seed pods and fresh leaves in your meals; they have a flavour similar to radish.  Toss them like a salad, blend them into smoothies, or steam them like spinach. 

The green pods or "drumsticks", leaves and flowers are used in many Thai dishes, in fact with a little research you find this trees lends itself to many culinary uses :)

This tree is a sun loving plant and is not suitable for colder climates.  It will do well in tropical and subtropic or semi-arid areas of Australia.
