Cestrum nocturnum or the Night-scented Jessamine - has green foliage and creamy white flowers, but after 6:00pm on a summer night, these highly decorative flowers release the most amazing scent. The scent is described as almond, musk, honey or sweet custard!!
The scent will fill the air - perfect for near an outdoor entertaining area. The flowers hang in clusters about 2-5 cm long.
This evergreen and ornamental garden plant will grow up to 4 meters high. The branches often hang down gracefully.
Prefers to grow in full sun, protected with well drained, moist soils. It will tolerate light frosts, but is generally considered frost and drought sensitive.
Take care to dispose of cuttings if you do not want them to grow elsewhere in the garden.
Night scented jessamine, especially the fruit, is toxic and medical attention must be sought if any part of the plant is ingested, by adults, children or pets.
As the perfume is very strong, this plant may not be suitable to grow if you or your family have asthma or respiratory sensitivity
