It's a great time to get out into the garden and plant up big! The last few days have been quite cool, a contrast from the earlier heat that surprised us all in early spring. The soil here is well watered with record rains only weeks ago and plenty to follow it up. We were very lucky to avoid major damage with a "Super cell" storm blasting through the Bundaberg area just a few days ago. Lots of trees were up-rooted and power was cut for over 24 hours for most locals with multiple powerlines down cutting major routes and some sheds and roofs lost. The storm was terrifying for those caught in it, including us, it was like suddenly a switch was flicked which turned on a cyclone, scariest storm I have even seen.
Apart from a few missing trees on the skyline, we were relatively unscathed, and the plants....well they responded by sprouting some new growth :) Just another day in paradise for them....
I don't know about your garden, but Spring is promising to come early here with glorious sunny days and flowers already beginning to spring from the fruit trees in our garden! Seeds we were waiting to sow are now in their pots and many of our plants that were sleeping for the winter are already starting to poke tiny tips into the air.
I knew I could never go wrong giving Mum plants for Mothers Day. Her eye's would just light up, and her new baby would be carefully placed in the sunroom. She was an avid gardener, stopping at every nursery along the way to anywhere. As a kid, I remember many a Saturday spent running around the nursery benches, pushing my nose into the roses until I lost interest....how much longer Mum?...
The slightly cooler weather has certainly seen plenty of return customers and some new ones! We have finally had some time to get some new plants up on the website for you to peruse :)
I hope you like some of the plants we have managed to either grow or source for you. It is certainly hard sometimes to choose what to grow with so many wonderful choices!...
Good morning all from Lush HQ! What a terrible week it has been for large sections of Queensland and Northern NSW.
Our hearts go out to the many people who have been devastated by this unprecedented weather disaster and we thank our lucky stars we have been saved this time....
Your plants are bigger than other plants I have bought online!
We think it is important to deliver a plant strong and vigorous and up to the journey, but still young enough to quickly establish.
When we describe a plant as being 20-25cm tall (our most common size) we measure the foliage from the soil level to the top of the plant....
Well, we have been super busy here at Lush! There are lots of new plants in the pipeline with lots of seeds sown and seedlings soaking up this warm sunny weather!
The recent heatwaves have meant lots of extra attention to ensure our plants stay looking their best when the heat is bearing down....
